NAAFS Kickboxing 2012

If you are a fan of stand up action, heavy hitting and devastating knockouts, then get ready for this January as Ryan "The Lion" Madigan of Evolve MMA in conjunction with the NAAFS will be showcasing a night of kickboxing action in Akron that will be sure to please fight fans throughout northeast Ohio.

And GR fans should especially be psyched to hear that we have three amateurs of our fight team returning to the ring in early 2012.

With Anton Jackson, a vicious combination of power and rhythm that hasn't been seen in the heavyweight division for quite some time. Kevin Peterson, a former workhorse of the light-heavyweight division looking to move up in weight and play with the big boys. And Ryan Lose, the featherweight with a fierce determination to showcase his ever-improving stand-up.

These three along with their coach Jason "Dynamite" Dent (making his professional kickboxing debut against Kyle "Kyote" Rozewski) will be in action in an exciting event to start the year off with a bang.

GR Intra Grappling Challenge

Attention members! It's official GR is hosting an intra-academy grappling tournament on Saturday November 19th. We held a grappling tournament over a year ago with tremendous success and look forward to another successful tournament. We are putting the event together as we speak. There are a few items we can say for sure at this time: 1--The tournament will be limited to GriffonRawl members ONLY! It's a chance for our school to pull ourselves to a higher level of grappling, but is not an event pitting academy vs. academy. 2--The tournament will be a NO-GI event. 3--There will be a small fee of $10ea for the event if you pre-register or it will be $15 if you wait to pay the day of. 4--Weigh-ins will be held the day of the event. 5--Weight classes will be determined the day of the event based on the number of participants and the range of weights based on said participants. 6--The tournament will be double elimination ensuring everyone at least two matches.
Stay tuned for further information! We plan to award all 1st place winners of each division with an engraved trophy. Any and all extra funds that are made will be put towards buying GR a new Muay Thai heavy bag. Should be an excite event. Please pre-register and sign up in advance and save $5 dollars.

GR set for NAAFS "Rock & Rumble 5"

GR has 5 guys set to compete on Saturday August 27th, at the Nautica Pavilion. GR fighters are as follows Paul "Str8 Outta" Compton, George "BoneSaw" Comer, Reggie "The Contract Killer" Parks, Ryan "The Loose Canyon" Lose, and last but not least John Burbol. Compton & Comer's fights will be Proffessional bouts and everyone else's is amateur. Please if you plan to attend get your tickets through the fighters as they have them as well as posters if you would like some. If you are unable to attend at least make sure to wish them good luck next time you see them here in the gym.

On Saturday, September 17, 2011 the UFC will present "Fight Night Live" from the New Orleans Convention Center in New Orleans, LA. NAAFS "War on the Shore 5"

The NAAFS comes to Geneva, OH on Saturday July 23, 2011 for War on the Shore 5. This year's event will be a PRO/AM event and GriffonRawl will be well represented. Professional veteran Paul Compton will be in action alongside 'Bonesaw' George Comer, who is making his pro debut. Dan Farnworth, and John Burbol will see action during the amateur portion of the card. See anyone of the fighters for tickets. Evolve MMA "Kickboxing Smoker"

On Friday, May 27, 2011 members of GriffonRawl will be competing in a smoker at Evolve MMA. Ryan Lose, Reginald Crawford, and "Mad Anthony"will be taking part in a kickboxing match. Al Turner will be competing in a boxing only match. Please come out and support your teammates and don't forget to wear your GriffonRawl attire to support the academy.

On Saturday, May 21st, 2011 Team GriffonRawl will be represented by Bryon McCroskey who will be looking for his second Pro win. Bryon will be GR's only fighter on this card and will be facing Okey Lawrence of Non Stop MMA. This will be a Pro/Am card and will be taking place in Erie, PA. April 8th GriffonRawl is proud to announce we will be holding a 2 hour MMA Seminar that will be taught by Dan Swift. Dan has an extensive amount of experience in MMA. He has fought UFC vets Roger Huerta, Jeff Curan and Miguel Torres. Dan has a three stripe purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Jorge Gurgel and Jon Stutzman. This is a good opportunity for all of our MMA students to come and enhance their techniques as well as all of those who are just thinking about training in MMA to come and get some hands on experience.

NAAFS "Midwest Combat Challenge 13"

On Saturday, March 12, 2011 Team GriffonRawl will be well represented in the NAAFS' "Midwest Combat Challenge 13." MWCC 13 will be held at Chapparell's Community Center in Akron, Ohio. Currently set to compete: John Burbol (5-3) at 185lbs; Dan Vandevender(debut) at 150lbs; Brad Bukovics (debut) at 170lbs; Mike MacDonald (0-1) at 145lbs; Zoran Laden (1-0) at 185lbs; and in the main event of the night Chuck Schilling (6-2) makes his long awaited return at 145lbs.

NAAFS "Caged Fury 14"

On Saturday February 26, 2011 three GriffonRawl warriors will be in action at the historic Grays Armory in downtown Cleveland. Miguel Defina (170) looks to rebound as he faces Dave Spedell. John Burbol (185) looks to continue his winning ways as he takes a step up in competition, facing unbeaten Blake Chatam. Finally, Bryon McCroskey makes his anticipated professional debut as he takes on the undefeated and nationally decorated wrestling phenom Clint Musser.
