Robin Geisler Jiu-Jitsu Seminar


Robin Geisler began his study of Grace Jiu-Jitsu in 1994 and has competed internationally since then, culminating in a 2nd place at the 2008 Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championships. He runs the Relson Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school in Columbus and will be at GriffonRawl for a three hour No-gi and Gi seminar. He is one of the first men in Ohio to receive his blackbelt directly from Relson Gracie.


The seminar will be comprised of two, 1.5 hour seminars, the first being advanced No-Gi techniques (covering submission defenses and attacks) and the second being advanced Gi techniques (chokes, passes, defense in the guard). You may attend either one or BOTH.

The NAAFS "Caged Fury 7" is really the national amateur semi-finals. Being held FRIDAY, October 9, 2009 at the IX Center in Cleveland, Ohio, the card features several GriffonRawl members seeking NAAFS gold in 2009.


#1 ranked Reggie Parks (170lbs), #4 ranked Ryan Lose (145lbs), #4 ranked George Comer and #2 ranked Bryon McCroskey (170lbs) are all set to do battle in their respective divisions.
First bell is set for 6:30pm!

NAAFS "Full Contact Kickboxing"


On Saturday, October 3, 2009, Team GriffonRawl will send three men to compete in NAAFS "Full Contact Kickboxing".


Lil' Dan Farnworth, Landon Khakdoust and Aaron 'Juice' Veverka will be competing. Everyone loves a standup war and what better way to see one than through a kickboxing fight? GriffonRawl was founded as a Muay Thai camp and while having evolved into a premier mma gym, this event allows the above to get back to their roots.

Donny 'Eagle Eye' Walker continues to have a busy 2009, as he is the lone GriffonRawl warrior set for action in Columbus, Ohio on September 19, 2009. Donny is facing a very tough opponent as he prepares to do battle with Tony Jayme of Team Jorge Gurgel. Tony is coming from lightweight to featherweight to face Donny.

Jeff "The Snowman" Monson MMA Seminar


On Thursday, August 27, 2009, MMA and Muay Thai classes will be cancelled at the GriffonRawl MMA Academy in order to host an exclusive seminar with Jeff "The Snowman" Monson.


Jeff's creditials are impressive to say the least. A two time Abu Dhabi champion, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, Division I college wrestler, nearly forty professional MMA bouts and one of the most feared grapplers in the world are just a few of his accomplishments. He now trains with American Top Team.


Pre-registration is encouraged but not mandatory. Please arrive at 6:00pm for individual stretching and warm-ups. Appropriate training gear will be needed including cup, mouthpiece, MMA gloves, etc.... The seminar will cover takedowns, submissions, and many other aspects of MMA. Jeff will be available for photo opportunities following the seminar.

NAAFS "Rock N Rumble 3"


Professionals AJ Pulling and Paul Compton, along with amateurs Bryon McCroskey and John Strmac will be in MMA action on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the beautiful Nautica Pavilion in "The Flats." Rock N Rumble 3 is one of the biggest events the NAAFS has put together as the show will be headlined by MMA legend Jeff "The Snowman" Monson.


John Strmac will be making his debut at 135lbs, dropping from 145lbs, to take on #1 ranked Sean Barnett. This will be a battle of the "ages" as John recently turned 35 years old, and Sean is an 18 year old phenom.


Bryon McCroskey (170lbs) will be taking on highly touted Okey Lawrence. Both men sport a 5-2 MMA record and neither have shyed away from top competiton in their amateur careers. Bryon looks to cement his place in the national semifinals with a win.


Paul "Str8outta" Compton will be in featherweight action as he takes on submission specialit Brandon Hance of USA Martial Arts. This fight pits two amazing athletes able to keep an amazing pace for 3, 5 minute rounds.


Mainstay AJ "Bloodbath" pulling gets back into the NAAFS Cage as he takes on Team H2O's captain Mickey Hughes. Both have had outstanding amateur careers and have two pro fights under their belt. AJ looks to remain unbeaten as a professional.

UMMAXX 8 "All Heart, No Fear"


Three GriffonRawl members will be in MMA action on Saturday, August 15, 2009, when UMMAXX 8 "All Heart, No Fear" returns to the John S. Knight Center in downtown Akron, Ohio.


Reggie Parks will be looking to rebound after his recent contest in Geneva. Reggie was "called out" by Chri Melillio, a man he scored a unanimous decision against in April.


Landon Khakdoust will be in action for the first time since suffering a rib injury in November of 2008. This fight marks the new and improved Landon at his more natural weight class, coming from 185 to 170lbs.


Donny "Eagle Eye" Walker looks to continue his winning ways against undefeated professional Bruce Ferguson, a submission specialist. Donny has been rejuvinated in his training and fighting and always puts on a great show. Going to the third round with Cub Swanson and defeating wrestling sensation Sonny Marchette, Donny always provides a great show.

The NAAFS returns once again for its yearly promotion at The Cove in Geneva, Ohio. A mere 25 miles from the GriffonRawl MMA Academy, the team has always been well represented and this year will be no exception. Dan "Tanis" Rawlings Muay Thai Seminar


Ever wonder how GriffonRawl got it's name? Combine two things to find the answer! The griffin is a fantasy creature with the body of a lion and the head and often wings of an eagle. Add the (partial) last name of Dan 'Tanis' Rawlings and you've got your answer. Dan founded the academy and before departing for the sunny state of Florida, turned the reigns over to his protoge, Jason Dent. On Sunday, May 3, 2009, Dan returns to the academy he started to give a three hour Muay Thai Seminar.


This is an intermediate to advanced level seminar and is limited to the first twenty (20) people who sign up AND pay the low cost of $40.00. Dan has been training for over 15 years, is a WCL veteran, and holds many Muay Thai titles. He has fought all over the world, including Russia and Thailand. The Ultimate Fighter 9 at Buffalo Wild Wings

The Utimate Fighting Championship, Spike TV, Buffalo Wild Wings and Griffonrawl Head Coach, Jason 'Dynamite' Dent have teamed up to take the viewing pleasure of The Ultimate Fighter reality show to new levels.


This Wednesday, April 29, 2009 from 9-1100pm, will be the last group TUF party. Jason has been at Buffalo Wild Wings in Mentor, Ohio to watch on the big screens, The Ultimate Fighter Season 9. Jason will miss the final week due to illness, but the group is still invited to attend and watch! Anyone wearing a Griffonrawl shirt will receive 10% off their bill.

MMA legend Dan Henderson leads two sets of American fighters (155lbs and 170lbs) as they take on The United Kingdom's best, led by rising star Michael Bisping. Participants must first fight their way into the UFC house and from there it's an elimination tournament pitting the UK lightweights against the USA lightweights. The same goes for the Welterweight fighters. Team challenges, training sessions and of course, the fights, are just some of the entertainment provided by the popular MMA reality show.
